Trip Description

The National Park of Isla Contoy is located 30 km to the north of Isla Mujeres where the transparent water of the Caribbean Sea joins the Gulf of Mexico. Ixlaché Reef to the south of Contoy, indicates the beginning of the second largest Reef of the world, the Great Mesoamerican Reef.

Enjoy a relaxing trip in a comfortable boat with the best service around as specialized bilingual guides provide you with all the information about the natural life that inhabits this beautiful island. Frequently Asked Questions

What time are the departures?

The departure is about 9 am. If you are staying on Isla Mujeres the meeting time is 8:40 am at my office in downtown. If you are staying on the mainland we have pick up at Punta Sam at 9 am some days. MOst of the times after picking up our customers from Isla Mujeres we do a short stop at Punta Sam dock that is only 10 min away from Isla Mujeres to pick up part of the group.

How long is the boat ride?

About 45 minutes plus a half hour stop at Ixlache reef for snorkeling if the weather allows it.

Is snorkeling gear and lifejackets included in the price?

Yes and lifejackets are mandatory as a rule of the National Marine Park

Do you offer pick up from the hotel?

Not in Isla Mujeres. If you are on the mainland I can arrange ground transportation from your hotel for an extra fee

Do you have prescription masks?

No, we recommend to bring your own or use contact lens.

Does it require swimming experience?

Not really as you will be using a lifejacket all the time and our experienced guide will be in the water with you.

If i’m going from the mainland is there a place to park my car?

Yes

Is there a vegetarian option for lunch?

Yes, please let us know if you need this

If I’m allergic to seafood, is there another option for lunch?

Yes you can have chicken or salad, with rice and guacamole, bread and fruits

Do you have snorkeling equipment for kids?

Yes

Do children pay?

Kids below 3 year old don’t pay. From 3 to 6 pay half the price and after 7 the pay normal price.

What is the minimum age required for this tour?

There is no minimum age required. But I always ask the parents to think if the kids will have a good time. Consider if the like the water, if they don’t get sick on boats, etc

How much time do we spend in Contoy?

About 3 hours plus half hour snorkeling

What happens if the weather isn’t good the day of my tour?

If the Harbour Master closes the port for high winds we can reschedule your trip or refund the deposit if you don’t have more available days.

How many people are on the boat?

Maximum 30 people.

Is there a toilet on the boat?

Yes

Is there shade on the boat?

Yes

Can I bring my stuff with me?

Yes, if you put it under your seat it won’t get wet but we are not responsible for your personal belongings
